“To all who come to this happy place; welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past...and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America...with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.” - Walt Disney

25 Days - 24

Day 24

This and That

As you finish up your preparations for the big visit from Santa, I wanted to begin wrapping up this little trip around the Disneyland Resort with a few odds and ends that didn't really make it into the previous posts.  There are a lot of things to see and do around the resort, and many can be missed by the casual observer, so take a moment to enjoy these little bits of Christmas that you may not have already seen.

Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe

Inside the busy little coffee shop are were some themed garlands.

The Fiddler - This little piggies house is made of sticks
The Fifer - this little piggies house is made of straw
This Practical piggy made his house of bricks
Buena Vista Street

For it's first Christmas Buena Vista Street sure went all out.

The residents of BVS were all wearing their holiday finest

Flower beds are planted with poinsettias, just like in old times.

The BVS Bell Ringers are great entertainers. See video below.

All around the resort you can find ornaments and baubles aplenty
Over at Clarabelle's Ice Cream festive garlands are up

At Trolley Treats there is even Candy Garland

That Candy Necklace sure looks good. Too bad I can't reach it.
A Wreath (or Garland) for all Occasions

Throughout the resort you will find Christmas wreaths and garlands that are appropriate to whatever land or locale they are in.  They vary widely in what they are made from, but always convey the same merry meaning - Have A Joyous and Happy Holiday.

The Big Thunder Ranch Wreath

Covered in pine cones and berries. Very Frontierland specific.

The Frontierland/New Orleans Square train depot.

Bows and Berries are the theme here.

A ride in a garland covered Fire Engine. How cheery it that?

Again in Frontierland, the Shooting Gallery is covered in pine garland.

The Tribute to a Dreamer

Many casual guests may not realise that above the Fire Station on Main Street sits the original apartment that Walt himself used during his time at Disneyland.  During the rest of the year there sits a small oil lamp, continually lit, to pay tribute to the man who brought us this wonderful dream.

During the Holidays the tribute is modified for the season.

Walt Disney's apartment sits above the Fire Station.

A small Christmas Tree sits in the window. Just look up!
