“To all who come to this happy place; welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past...and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America...with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.” - Walt Disney

25 Days - 2

Day 2

Twas the Night Nights before Christmas...

If you've never heard of the Candlelight Processional then you have been living under a rock. Granted that may not be a bad thing, but still this has been a big deal at Disneyland each Christmas season.

In past years (or decades) this event, which takes place in the middle of Town Square, has been a private two-night event.  For years it has been a special hard ticket event that required the temporary transformation of the train station platform into a giant stage full of cast choir members, trumpeters, and celebrity story tellers. It's no surprise that due to it's exclusive nature many park guests may have never seen or heard of the event.  That will all change this year.

No longer will this be a relatively quick two-day event. The stage and surrounding seating area will no longer be put up and taken down within the span of a week.  This year the twice nightly event will be performed over a twenty day period.  Yes, I said 20 days! Twice a night, seven days a week, from December 1 - December 20 Town Square will be turned into a special event stage.

Why, you may ask, is this event expanding?  Different viewpoints abound, but the bottom line is that Disney is trying something new.  This change is linked to many other changes which will be coming down the road.  The additional days of Candlelight Processional will be open the Annual Passholders as a perk. More details on this and other perks for Passholders will be coming next year.
