“To all who come to this happy place; welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past...and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America...with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.” - Walt Disney

It's A World of laughter, a world of fun...

It's a Small World after all.

* * * * * * * * * *

One of the most beloved attractions, and catchiest songs can be found at the Happiest Place on Earth.  Originally created for the New York Worlds Fair, along with several other classic Disneyland attractions, "it's a small world" has become one of the most iconic attractions in the world. In addition to the original, sitting at the back of Fantasyland, this attraction has been repeated in every other Magic Kingdom park around the world. How's that for icon status? With easy to remember lyrics and a tune that will not get out of your brain it's easy to see why this water flume ride is so well loved.  Here in Anaheim it has even rated its very own Holiday overlay, complete with outdoor lighting and indoor decorations, which is just as popular and garners a long stand-by line which rivals any of the other E-ticket attractions in the park.

I hear the clock ticking down, so let's board for a trip around the world.

Disneyland History

Today in Disneyland History

17 years ago on this date - August 21, 1995 - Disneyland Park
closed one of the most missed attractions of all time.

Opened in 1967, The PeopleMover gave guests an elevated guided tour of Tomorrowland as they enjoyed sleek, streamlined comfort aboard one of 62 four-car trains. The 16 minute journey included a look inside several Tomorrowland attractions, with the trains pushed along quietly from below by pacer tires powered by an electric motor. The track was extended in 1977 to enter Space Mountain and the Superspeed Tunnel, which used wraparound screens to put riders in the middle of a high-speed auto race. After its closure, the PeopleMover track was converted into the high-speed Rocket Rods, which operated from 1998 to 2000.

For many years now Disney fans have clamoured for the return of the PeopleMover.

Will it ever return? That seems to be a tricky question.
The former loading station still exists in the center of Tomorrowland.
The track itself is still present, in some form or fashion.
Rumor has it that the failed Rocket Rods damaged the track extensively.

Rumors still pop up about a return in some fashion.

The latest Disney news hints at a Major Update of Tomorrowland.
Part of that possible update could include the demolition of the current Innoventions building.
Disney fans remember this as the America Sings/Carousel of Progress building.
Another part of the possible updates include the space currently occupied by Autopia.
Could the old track, which runs through Innoventions and winds above Autopia, remain?
The Monorail also runs above Autopia, so this adds other questions.
Would PeopleMover track be removed and Monorail track stay?
Would both tracks be removed? Would both be re-routed?

It seems that we may have to wait some years to get any answers.
ImaginEars have a lot of ideas, and unlimited imaginations.
Unfortunately, Disney executives impose limitations and budgets.
So things move slowly and ideas change constantly.

That sounds a lot like the PeopleMover.

Coming Attractions...

Coming Attractions

Here are a few sneak peaks at things I am working on for future updates.
These things take some time, so I hope you enjoy.

We begin in a tiki garden.

Then we travel under the sea.

We take in some history along the way.

But, can you guess where this wet spot is?

Check back over the next few months for the answer, along with more videos.

All in the Details

More Details

I have another report on the newly expanded main entrance at DCA.
Buena Vista Street now has some appropriate entertainment offerings.

**********************************************************
The first, and most jazzy is the 5 & Dime show.

In classic Disney fashion this lively group will swing into your heart.
Five (the band members) and Dime (the girl singer) arrive in California.
Great music and dance, along with a Goofy cameo, keep your toe tappin' along.
If you get the chance, you have to see this show live. It is well worth it.

**********************************************************
Second, is the Red Car Trolley Newsboys.

This is a high energy song and dance show full of great music.
The newsboys share a dream about coming to California and what it means to them.
Along the way they meet a Mouse with a big dream, and encourage him to follow it.

Both of these shows run multiple times daily in the new Carthay Circle area.
Check the schedule, pause a while, and enjoy both of these offerings.

Video for both shows - coming in the future.

Turn Here ... Signs of fun ahead

Turn Here ... Signs of fun ahead

What would a land full of cars be without road signs.

All over Carsland you can find reminders that you are visiting the home of Lightning McQueen and Mater. From street signs to billboards there are many signs to see. Let's race off to look.

**************************************************

All over town are places to shop.

However, there are a few shops just for the residents of Radiator Spings.
We humans aren't allowed in, but we can enjoy the signage.

The Curb Feeler Shop

Sparkys Spark Plugs

The Oil Pan - for a quick lube job

There are also locations to stop and have a bite to eat.
We humans CAN visit these locations

Flo's V8 Cafe

The Cozy Cone Motel

And, You wouldn't want to get turned in the wrong direction.
These directional signs will point the way.

This way to Pacific Wharf & Paradise Pier

For a bug's land follow this path.

Traveling down Cross St. towards a bug's land these signs build anticipation.

Flick invites you on to visit.

Shrink in size? Is this Inner Space?

On the return trip we get Radiator Springs billboards.

5 Miles? Oh right, these are magic Disney miles!

And like lightning... We're there. That was fast.

Wow, all this walking is tireing. I need a break.

I've had a bit to much organic juice. Those light post look Groovy.

Look at that gift shop. It must be along Route 66.

Those liscence plates are all over the building. That's a lot of old cars.

Oh look! This is the thing everybody is waiting for.
Radiator Springs Racers. Let's go get in line.

Well, I'm going for a ride.

Come back next time and we can explore some more.

Summer Racers

As summer races away, let's take another lap...

Check your seatbelt! This ride is leaving the pit and on track.
